Written Analysis
Ambition is an earnest desire of achieving a specific goal or obtaining success. In the play, Macbeth, the theme of ambition was present. I personally thought that people in the world today should have some kind of ambition, so I decided to do my FSE based on this theme.
The first post on my blog is titled, “Never give up and stay ambitious!” I want to inform the readers that they should never give up. If teens have an ambition of some sort, they should try hard without giving up and strive for achievements. It is very possible that there may be several competitors aiming for the same goal as someone, so one should try his/her best to stay in the game and become successful. Giving up may be the easiest thing to do, but it is not an option. When one does not give up, he/she may inspire others not to give up which is an admirable thing.
The second post is called, “Achieve your ambition and you will be rewarded!” I chose to write about this topic because I want to let people know that they will be rewarded in some way once they have successfully achieved their goal. After going through so many hardships to become successful, I think it is nice to know that some kind of surprise will be waiting for each and every person. The one reward everyone will all get is self-pride. Who would not be filled with joy and excitement after accomplishing something? The other rewards can be discovered after achieving their goals.
The thirst post is titled, “Follow your heart and find your ambition. I chose this topic because I want to let people (especially young teens) know that no one can set their goals, but themselves. It is their own body that they are in charge of; not somebody else. In this post, I wrote about how people can discover their desires of achieving something and that one must find something that they love doing at all times in order to find it. People should learn to follow what their hearts tell them no matter what others say.
The fourth post is called, “Be confident in yourself and never cheat!” This post is about making the right choices of playing fair to become successful instead of cheating. When you achieve your goals by cheating, you would not feel a sense of pride and consequences will follow after. I just wanted to inform people that cheating is always wrong. As long as they know what to do to achieve their ambition, they just need to perform it well.
The last post is titled, “Believe in yourself and be ambitious!” I want to let people know that fate will not take anyone anywhere. Maybe it could a little, but not very far. Fate is like chance or luck. You cannot rely on those things. You must do whatever you can to your best ability to succeed and achieve your goals.
All of these five posts were chosen to help people out to make better decisions and to help them realize some facts about ambition. Characters in Macbeth, have set several negative aspects regarding ambition. I want people to think the opposite to the characters that were mentioned on my blog posts. In one of the posts, I have even included my own experiences to make them understand better and to help recognize some kind of connection. Like I have mentioned on my blog, I want to be a social worker because I love assisting people who needs my help. I hope that my choice of writing about different facts and aspects about ambition would guide many numbers of people to a bright future!

Believe in yourself and be ambitious! (Post #5)

If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me/ Without my stir. (Macbeth, Act I, Sc. 4, 147-148)

In this quote, Macbeth says that if fate wants him to be king, perhaps fate will just make it happen and he won’t have to do anything. This is a wrong thought! Your future depends on how you do, not fate!

I can always believe and wish to be an eminent doctor of Canada. However, this would never happen unless I actually start to take steps to become one. I would have to study hard at school, maintain a high average, get trained, and build up my knowledge in order to become the best doctor. I cannot just sit at home on the couch eating potato chips like a couch potato and talk to myself saying, “I am going to be the best doctor in the country!” Nothing will happen! Not going to school for education would not take me anywhere in reality.

This is where ambition plays an important role. If you truly have an eager desire of achieving or obtaining success and/or specific goal, you must do your best to do it. The whole thing about fate is bogus! Of course one can always wish, but it would not necessarily come true. To succeed, one must always try and be ambitious because without an attempt, nothing can be achieved. So believe in yourself; not fate. Then, you shall succeed!

Be confident in yourself and never cheat! (Post #4)

Macbeth says, “If good, why do I yield to that suggestion/ Whose horrid image doth unfix my hair/ And make my seated heart knock at my ribs,/ Against the use of nature?” (Macbeth, Act I, Sc.3, 138-141)

Macbeth says that if becoming a king is a good thing, why does he find himself thinking about murdering King Duncan. The thought is so horrifying that it makes his hair stand on end and his heart pound inside his chest.

The quote relates to playing fair to achieve your ambition. Macbeth’s vaulting ambition is making him think of killing King Duncan, which can be related to in our world as cheating to become successful.

To achieve your ambition, cheating is never the solution. You can cheat on tests to get high grades in schools and begin your career; however, cheating always results in consequences and we should all know that by now. Also, you would feel no self-pride because you know that you did not accomplish your goal with your own will. So how can teens achieve their ambition without cheating? The answer is confidence.

If you believe in yourself that you can do it, you will succeed! Just put your mind into it, work hard, and be confident. There is a saying that nothing is impossible. Like I have mentioned in the previous post below, I have an ambition to become a social worker. Sometimes, I get a feeling that I cannot succeed. Silly, I know. And of course, I would never cheat in any shape or form to succeed. When I am down, I would remind myself of this quote by W. Clement Stone, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” This gives me self-esteem.

So here’s the key to success: play fair by being confident and do not cheat like Macbeth.

Remember! Confidence is all you need!
The topic of the post relate to the overall theme because if you are ambitious about something, you try to achieve something. But because we are humans, we sometimes make faults and could possibly think of cheating. However, you should believe in yourself to gain some confidence and you can succeed!

Follow your heart and find your ambition! (Post #3)

If you can look into the seeds of time/ And say which grain will grow and which will not, Speak, then, to me, (Macbeth, Act I, Sc. 3, 60-61)

In this quote by Banquo, he tell the witches that if they can see the future and say how things will turn out, they should tell him his future.

No one in the world knows anyone else’s future. They do not even know their own future! So what I am trying to say is that no one can tell you what your ambition is! You need to find your own ambition and work hard to achieve it. Of course discovering your ambition is not easy, but you can start finding out from what you love doing. Something you are passionate about.

Here is my personal connection.

When I was in elementary school, my parents have never forced me to become something. They told me to have any kind of career that I would love to be. But my parents always reminded me to do something that I want to be doing. So as I grew up, I found what I would want to be in the future, and I found my ambition by volunteering in a school event called C.C.P (Children’s Christmas Party). In this event, my duty was to take care of children and talk with them. They just made me jolly!

I was able to double check my ambition while working at a restaurant. It was then I have realized that I really enjoyed talking with all age groups. Through this, my ambition was found. I wanted to become a successful social worker since I loved being around children and adults. Talking and laughing with people and also helping people out are some things I love doing.

I hope my short life story proves that no one can tell you what to become. You are who you are and you make your own decisions in life. Dream and become someone that you would love to be. Remember, you should be passionate about it. Do not listen to other people and just follow your own heart in finding your ambition.

What's your ambition? Think about it wisely!
The topic of the post relate to the overall theme because this post talks about finding your ambition. Ambition is something that you find by yourself, not by someone else telling you it. In Macbeth, the witches told Banquo and Macbeth their future. I find that wrong! I want others to realize that they should make their own decisions to find their ambition.

Achieve your ambition and you will be rewarded! (Post #2)

Banquo said, “There, if you grow, / The harvest is your own.” (Macbeth, Act I, Sc. 4, 34)

This quote by Banquo says that if you accomplish anything great, it will be a credit to you. I find this very true.

With your ambitious mind, you will be able to succeed. Once you succeed, there is always a reward for you after all the hard work. It will definitely be paid off. It does not matter what your dreams are because everyone will get at least one reward. The one reward that everyone would get is self-pride. For example, if a teen’s dream was to become a doctor, he/she would currently be a high school student. This student would be working intently to get into the university of their choice. Once this student attends the university, he/she will graduate and find a job of their dreams. After getting hired as a doctor, he/she would get the sense of pride! Thinking back to his/her childhood days… he/she would be over satisfied by his/her accomplishment and I think that is a big reward one can get. The other rewards would be one’s satisfying income or doing something one loves doing for the rest of his/her life and etc.

Just like the quote mentioned above by Banquo, you will definitely earn a credit, or more likely more than you have ever expected. There are surprises in this world because you do not know what will happen in the next five minutes. All I can say is that becoming an ambitious person is very important. I believe there are no disadvantages, but there are numerous advantages associated with personal achievements.

As mentioned in my previous post, I would like to say that teens should try their best to accomplish their goals because rewards will follow after going through many obstacles. Actually, what I just said goes for all ages!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the reward!
How does this topic of the post relates to the overall theme?

This topic of the post relates to the overall theme because every ambitious person definitely be rewarded in some kind of way. Banquo said that once you achieve something great, it will be a credit to you. Having an ambition and trying to achieve it may be a difficult thing, but in the end, it will all be paid off!

Never give up and stay ambitious! (Post #1)

Mabeth said, “That is a step/ On which I must fall down, or else o'erleap, For in my way it lies.” (Macbeth, Act I, Sc. 4, 50-51)

Macbeth mentions in the play that for himself to become king, he is either going to have to step over Malcolm or give up because he’s in his way. Macbeth’s ambition of becoming king might go down the drain if he decides to give up at this point. However, as the play goes on, Macbeth did not give up and tried his best to become king.

In our world today, everyone has the desire for personal achievement. Ambition provides the motivation and determination to achieve goals in life. Ambitious people seek to be the best at what they choose to do for attainment, power, or superiority. Teens like me today all have a similar goal right now. That is to do well in school, receive excellent grades, and get into the university that they have always dreamed of getting into.

Just like Macbeth, teens should not abandon their dreams, but strive to achieve instead. If there are competitions between the same goals (just like Macbeth and his companions), then teens should work harder to accomplish it. In fact, I think it is better to have competitors because it gives you more determination to be successful. Also, teens would be able to notice their weaknesses by being compared to other competitors. This would give them a chance to improve on it to be at the top.

To wrap it all up, I would like to simply say that giving up is not the key to success. If you have the desire to become successful, do not let anything put you down. Just learn to look straight ahead and follow your path by doing your best to achieve your dream. Trust me, your hard work and efforts will pay off some time in the future!

Never give up and stay ambitious!
This topic of the post relates to the overall theme because teens could face problems like Macbeth has. Like I have mentioned in the first paragraph, Macbeth's situation of having a competitor is a situation people face in the world today as well. If one is ambitious, he/she must never give up and fight through with all their might!
